About a Girl Named Honor

I’m Honor, and I really like making stuff.

Things I Enjoy.

Welcome! Here’s where you can learn all about A Girl Named Honor. In addition to doodling with my partner/best friend/bae, I like eating whipped cream on anything (crème brule and lattes in particular), cuddling with my dog Wednesday when she isn’t chewing up my shoes or books, eating and drinking my way through new cities, making eye contact with animals, adventures, spoken word, riding bikes in rainstorms, adding spice to all things, binge watching shows, hiking with friends, and making people feel good about themselves.

One of the best compliments I have ever received was being told I give great hugs. I have recently started practicing yoga, and it has transformed the relationship I have with my body. If I ate curry and rice and cheese quesadillas for the rest of my life, I would die happy.

Things that keep me up at night.

Paralyzing self doubt, not being able to speak eloquently, fear I’m taking up too much space, all of the ways I have inflicted harm on others, what I have to do the next day, what I did wrong today, yesterday, and last year, wondering when this current political nightmare is going to end.

Things I am working on.

Being more loving towards people I do not understand, reducing the amount I compare myself to everyone else, not letting the risk of failure dictate where I invest my time and energy, patience.

I don’t claim to be a pro, but any comfort or joy I can offer is an absolute privilege. By day, I bear witness to pain and sit with people in their hurt. Together, we try to find a way out. By night, I reset with paper and ink. This is me taking my broken heart and making it into art (thank you, Carrie Fisher).

Here you will find an assortment of my illustrated reveries. I am learning to pour sorrow and anger, despair and confusion into something redemptive and hopeful because it helps me heal. I hope that wherever and however you are, you lean into whatever nourishes you the way drawing has for me.

Whatever you’re needing a little more of right now, I hope you find some here.
